Master of Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics (MPT in Orthopaedics), is a two year postgraduate Orthopedics degree level course of study in India. The study focused on the physical therapy and treatment of the musculoskeletal system its means muscles and bones of the body, includes injury on the treatment related to sprains, strains, post fracture, post surgery, and repetitive of the patient.
The master study deals with the both surgery and non-surgery to treat and care sports persons, degenerative disease, infection and tumors and congenital disorder and all manner of bones and muscles in the human body. The course prepare candidates with knowledge, skills and abilities to provide relief the pain of orthopedics or musculoskeletal problems like chronic joint pain, joint stiffness, poor mobility, arthritis and back or neck pain with the help to assist the medical service in dealing with different aspects of treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of disorder utilizing exercise and electrotherapy procedures.
The course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of the Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Orthopaedics, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Physical and Functional Diagnosis of Musculoskeletal Disorder, Research Methodology & Biostatistics, Medical and Surgical Aspects of Musculoskeletal Disorders, Orthopedic Physiotherapy, Physiotherapy in Spinal condition, Management and Ethics in Physiotherapy.
The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree such as Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.
This course requires study requires 2 years of time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree.
After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do Ph.D. (Doctorate in Orthopaedics Physiotherapy ), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
