Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT) - The Medical Laboratory Technology field has been a tool in the diagnosis and study of the various diseases for proper treatment. The knowledge in the field of Hematology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and General Pathology is of utmost important for any skilled technician. And therefore, in the rapidly growing area of scientific knowledge and skills, laboratory science is an important area of study for Medical Laboratory Technicians.The main subjects to be covered during the first and second year of this course are the same as for the Degree Course. Within completion of two years of the aforesaid course the candidate after undergoing requisite course module, the diploma will be awarded and also have an option to continue if desired, the degree course, within the requisite time schedule as mentioned in the degree course.

Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (DMLT), is a two years diploma course in India. The course is designed to fulfill the responsibility related to laboratory Investigation Diagnosis, Treatment, and prevention of Disease. The study equips candidates with the necessary skills requires to handle Lab equipment and perform accurate Pathological Tests. Lab Technician also has to assume administrative functions such as reporting and recording results of tests conducted in the laboratory, maintaining accurate clinical records, selection and evaluating laboratory equipment and new test methodology and performing other duties.
The study focus on the discipline of, Basic of Laboratory Equipment and Basic Chemistry, Basic Hematology, Blood Banking and Immune Hematology, Clinical Pathology & Parasitology, Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Histopathology, and Cytology.

The Bachelor degree program requires 2 years of the time period in India. It’s a Full-Time study professional diploma course.

Eligibility

The candidates should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Education or an Equivalent Examination, for Science stream and additional subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, minimum 50% marks are eligible for pursuing in this program.

Further Studies

After the completion of bachelor, Degree Course One can pursue for Research Oriented Work or continued their higher studies, Master’s in Medical Lab Technology (MLT).

Diploma holder can recognized as Medical Lab Technician and able to assist the Doctor in taking Samples, Centrifuging, Making slides using specific Stains under proper guidance candidates can also work as, Laboratory Assistant, Consultant & Assistant, Lab Supervisor, Healthcare Administrator, Lab Coordinator, Laboratory Information System Analyst, Educational Assistant Consultant, etc.
