Bachelor in Optometry (BOPTM) - Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) programme is a privately run undergraduate Optometry programme in one of the most prestigious private university colleges in the country.Its laboratory and clinical facilities are on par with overseas institutions that offer the undergraduate Optometry programme.The programme is run by full-time optometrically qualified lecturers while also drawing on the expertise of external/visiting lecturers comprising Biomedical scientists, Medical Practitioners, Ophthalmic Surgeons and Practising Optometrists.

The Bachelor in Optometry (BOPTM is an Undergraduate Medical Professional Course in India. The optometrists is a health profession specialised in eye care and deal with eye testing and providing the solution to patients suffering from Partial Sight, Squint, Hereditary Vision Defect, Weakening of Eye Muscles, etc.
The course is designed to trained Physicians to undertake eye surgeries. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of the academic discipline of Optometry such as Visual Optics, Lighting & Eye, Medical Pathology & Microbiology (General & Ocular), Pharmacology, Ophthalmic Lens & Dispensing Optics, Low Vision Aids & Visual Rehabilitation.

Eligibility

The candidates should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Education or an Equivalent Examination, for Science stream and additional subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, minimum 50% marks are eligible for pursuing this program.

Entrance Examination

In India it is mandatory to give an additional entrance exam for pursuing in, Bachelor in Optometry (BOPTM) Entrance Examination are conducted on the National basis such as All India Pre Medical Entrance Test, Common Entrance Test, candidates have to clear examination to get admission in bachelor degree course.

Course Duration & Learning Mode

The Bachelor Degree program requires 3-4 years of the time period in India. Three years for academic studies and one year for Internship. It’s a Full-Time study program.

Further Studies

If candidates have the desire to gain more knowledge to accelerate their profession and skills can pursue Master of Optometry, for specialisation and also do research oriented work in the respective field.

After the successful completion of bachelor degree course, one can recognize as Optometrists and have excellent career opportunities in Medical field candidates can work in both Government and Private Sector or do Individual Professional Practices / Private Consultancy, one can also work as Lens Consultant, Technical Officer (Ophthalmology), Lecturer, Professor, Refractionist, etc.
