The objectives of the Department include the documentation, edition, digitalization and publication of Siddha Medical manuscripts. Medicinal plants are cultivated in the University-owned herbal farm. Tissue culture technique is adopted to revive the growth and development of rare and endangered medicinal plants. Many of them are propagated among the public. Standardization of herbal drugs through botanical, biochemical, phytochemical, pharmacological and microbiological and chemical studies are undertaken. Clinical evaluation of Siddha medicines and their formulations are also done in the Department.
