The objective of the course at the Master's level is to provide the student with a enhanced knowledge base that would include both the theoretical formulations and practical orientation so that he / she is equipped to handle the challenges of management and administration. The structure of the course is so patterned that Indian students taking the course can see its utility in the context of civil service examinations, both at the central and at the state levels.
The department offers 16 core subjects at post-graduate level, for a total of 80 credits. The department offers M.A., and Ph.D programmes. For the academic year 2011 - 2012 the department of Public Administration has 15 students from Bhutan seeking the Master's degree, all of whom are middle to high level bureaucrats from the Ministry of Home in the Kingdom.
