The research division covers various aspects of electrical engineering. There is an active and growing area of research in the field of power electronics & drives, power apparatus and systems, whilst collaborating with each other and a variety of industrial partners. The research group focuses on power electronic devices and integrated circuits, and their uses in various applications. Other major research strands include FACTS and their integration in power systems, integrated design of electrical machines and drives and electromagnetic modeling.
The EEE Department holds several national level conferences, seminars and workshops. These provide a platform for the staff and students to share their views and experience among industrialists, fellow researchers and academicians in the emerging areas of electrical engineering. In collaboration with NEC-Japan, a series of projects were executed in the area of microcontrollers. Under the semester abroad program, 4 students have been sent to different universities like Massachusetts Institute of Technology-USA, University of Wisconsin-USA, Lille Catholic University-France and Technical University Chemnitz-Germany.
