Department Of Biotechnology

The core competence of the Department exists in genomics and proteomics; molecular genetics of human diseases; cell & tissue culture; nutraceutical food and beverages; handling of labile fermentation based compounds; efficiency in downstream processing methods; competence in DNA technology; development of diagnostics, drugs, etc.; molecular marker assisted breeding of plants and animals and infrastructure in fabricating bio-reactors and processing equipment.

The Department offers a challenging academic environment to its students. It aims to instill the habit of life-long learning and therefore, provides a learner centric rather than a teacher-centric educational process.

Molecular Biology and Recombinant DNA Technology Lab

This lab is equipped with several sophisticated instruments include Gradient Thermocycler (PCR), Gel Documentation System, UV Transilluminator, Vertical and Horizontal Gel Electrophoresis Systems, Refrigerated Centrifuges, Laboratory Centrifuges, Mini and Micro Centrifuges.

Plant Cell/Tissue Culture Lab

A newly constructed plant cell/tissue culture lab conduct research in tissue culture µpropagation of plants such as mustard, sugarcane, aloe vera.

Bioprocess and Fermentation Lab

Highly sophisticated biological fermenter has been installed to carry out fermentation experiments during bio process and bio engineering

Microbiology & Immunology Lab

Basic microbiology lab equipments: ELISA Reader, Hot air ovens,Microscopes (Binocular,Monocular), Incubators, Orbital Shakers, Laminar Air Flows, Autoclaves.

Animal Tissue Culture Lab

A newly constructed Animal tissue culture lab conduct research in tissue culture of cancer cell lines.
