Faculty of Indian Medical System

The practice of Ayurveda as a health care tool has been in vogue in Indian subcontinent since ancient times. But it was neglected during the Indian colonial period by the British Indian Govt. The rejuvenation of this Indian medical system started with the independence of India. Presently, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, abbreviated as AYUSH, is a governmental body in India which is responsible for promotion of Ayurvedic education and research. This system of health education is now gaining ground not only in India, but elsewhere in the world as an alternative mode of health care with minimum side effects; rather no side effects.

The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)—the agency that monitors education and research in Ayurveda—applies rigorous standards before the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) programme is allowed to be started by any organization. The SGT University has come true to the standards set by CCIM and has passed the first Inspection by a team of experts deputed by the Council. The University is likely to receive the Letter of Permission from the Council after the second and final inspection by a team of experts shortly.
