Department Of Public Health Dentistry
The branch of Public Health Dentistry deals with the prevention & promotion of oral health through organized community efforts. It includes more of general dentistry at the out-reach levels and also with research on oral health care. The department undertakes undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs.
The faculty and postgraduates at the department are involved in organizing out-reach dental care camps along with the help of the public relations department, which helps render dental health care to the people at their doorsteps. The dental college hospital and research center caters to oral health needs of a large number of patients from the surrounding 150 villages especially from low income groups, thus providing to the area, a state of the art dental facility.
These services involve providing comprehensive oral health check-up, oral health treatment and referral to the specialized departments at the college for remaining basic and advanced treatment. These people are also given basic oral health education by use of live demonstrations and oral health education posters. The camp team comprises of faculty, postgraduates and interns from various speciality departments.
