Kishore Vaigyanik Prostahan Yojana (KVPY)

The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” (KVPY) is a program started in 1999 by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.
Important Dates
Eligibility
- Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI standard (Science subjects) during the academic year and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC / ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X standard Board Examination.
- Stream SB+2(SX): Students enrolled in class 12(+2) during the academic year and aspiring to undergraduate program in basic sciences (B.S.C./ B.S/ Int.M.S.C) for the session provided they secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X standard Board Examination.
- Stream SB: Students enrolled in Ist year B.S.c / B.S/ Int. M.Sc during the academic year and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.
- Stream SP(Basic Sciences): Students are enrolled in XI / XII standard, I, II year (B.S.c/ B.S/ Int .M.S.c.) in Basic sciences and I/ II year B.E /B>Tech./ B.Arch .during the academic year and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in the X & XII Standard Board Examinations . Stud3ents enrolled in the II year B.S.c /B.S/Int. M.S.c./ B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. Program must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the Ist year examination. A Hard copy of original and creative science based research project must be submitted along with the application.
*Engineering students may also apply for the stream SP (Basic Sciences)
How to Apply
- There is no other mode to fill the application form.
- Candidates can register for the KVPY exam.
- Candidates have to fill their personal and academic details, choose test centre & upload photograph, signature & other certificates as applicable.
- Before filling the KVPY registration form, candidates must read the instruction carefully.
- Keep the printout of the filled application form for future use.
