    The Department of Entomology at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut came into existence since the establishment of University on October, 2000. It became a part of the Agriculture College with the mandate of teaching, research and extension. It imparts education at undergraduate and post graduate (M.Sc. Ag. and Ph.D level. While there are always more peaks to be scale, the Department which had the mandate of finding solutions to pests problem, has fulfilled its objectives to a great extent, It can proudly claim to have found solutions to most of the pests problem nagging all farming systems in western U.P., ranging from subsistence farming to high-tech agriculture. A major achievement of the Department has been balance achieved in pursuing both the basic and applied aspects of entomology. The Department is particularly proud of its achievements in bio control and ecological aspects in entomology.
