Rajendra Agricultural University is an agricultural university at Samastipur in India located in the state of Bihar. It is one of the largest Agricultural university of the country by way of serving about 80 million population of the state out of which the livelihood of 90% households depend on agriculture only.The university was established on 3rd of December, 1970 at Pusa known as the motherland of Agriculture,education and research across the globe. The mandate of the university is to undertake teaching,research and extension programme to generate knowledge ,wealth and information base among the stake holders of education, research and farming. The word PUSA (Mr. Henry Phipps from USA) itself comes from the person who donated the money to estabilist agricultural research institute and college on 4th of June 1903 and the institute was shifted to New Delhi in 1934 after earthquake in Bihar which severely damage the main building.
Structure
There are five faculties in the university in the disciplines of Agriculture, Veterinary & Animal sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Basic sciences, Humanities & Home science ,besides college of agriculture, Fisheries and institute of Dairy Technology. The university offers six undergraduate degree programmes ,thirty three post graduate programmes and eighteen Ph.D. programmes in various fields. It is also the only university to provide the program: MBA in Agribusiness. It also has:
