Established in 1923, Purvanchal University, Jaunpur (University) is a historic state university in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, renowned for its extensive academic programs and significant contributions to higher education in the region.

Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University or just Purvanchal University is located in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the educatinal hub of eastern Uttar Pradesh, in 1987 as a residential-cum-affiliating university, it is named after Late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Continuous qualitative & quantitative growth, excellence in academic & administrative activities and transparent & efficient administration of more than 200 colleges have been some of the distinct factors for which the university is striving and on the basis of the same the university has emerged as one of the leading universities of the country. Started with the 69 affiliated colleges, the university now has widened it’s spectrum of activities with 235 affiliated graduate and post-graduate colleges and students enrollment of nearly 300 thousands in 12 Districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The infrastructure development, achievement of academic excellence, quality assurance in the higher education and socio-economic development of this highly backward & rural region of Eastern Uttar Pradesh are the priority areas for which the university is continuously striving. The University is located at 10 km from the historic city of Jaunpur on Jaunpur-Shahganj road which divides it’s 172.5 acres campus into two. Jaunpur is well connected by Train, Road and Air with rest of the country.
