The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism launched the Post-Graduation Programme in 2004 to train students who want to pursue careers in the ever expanding field of Media having in its gamut electronic and print media, advertising, public relations, documentary filmmaking and web-journalism. MANUU is the first Central University in the country to start a PG Course in Mass Communication through Urdu as medium of instruction. The MA-MCJ is full time course and 75% attendance is compulsory and other rules and regulations of the University are applicable. The main purpose of the department is to produce professional journalists, well trained and well equipped who can cope up with the emerging challenges in the field of Electronic and Print Media. In particular to fulfill the need of Urdu Media by providing professionally trained manpower. In this regard the department is working hard to achieve high standards in media teaching and research.
The School of Mass Communication and Journalism is situated in sophisticated media environment at a newly constructed Instructional Media Centre building.
To enhance the practical training of the students of Mass Communication & Journalism, the infrastructure of Instructional Media Centre is also being used to provide the necessary training for Audio/ Video media.
