This PG programme was sanctioned and/or funded by the Nano Mission of ‘Dept of Science & Technology, DST’, Govt of India (SR/NM/PG-07/2008) http://nanomission.gov.in/ At present the course is running jointly with Dept of Industrial Chemistry, Kuvempu University. http://kuvempu.ac.in Prof. B.S. SHERIGARA, former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University is the founder of this M.Tech course in ‘Nanoscience and Technology’.
Dept is arranging various Special Lecturers for students. The experts are invited from reputed Research Institutes viz., Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore; Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai; Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore; National Aeronautics Laboratory (NAL), Bangalore.
Dept is making all the efforts in providing the students to learn Advanced Characterization Techniques and Applications in various areas of Nanoscience and Technology. The vision of the centre is to tune the students to lead the emerging Nanoscience and Technology in multidisciplinary areas, both in India and abroad. Towards this end, we are closely looking forward to collaborate with scientists from different Universities, Institutes as well as corporate world, both in India and abroad.
All students have attended the International Conference on ‘Nanomaterials: Synthesis, Characterization and Applications’ held at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala on April 27, 28 and 29, 2010. This conference was one of the biggest international meetings exclusively dedicated to Nanomaterials. Also, attended and helped in organizing a National Symposium on Frontier areas in Chemical Science and Nanotechnology in our campus on May 1 and 2, 2010. Students of 2nd sem have already started a significant Project/Research work on Solar Cell and Fuel Cell after thorough literature survey.
