Department of Mathematics
The department of mathematics was started in 2007 at the inception of IIST. It offers courses at undergraduate and post graduate level. A two year M.Tech programme in softcomputing is being run by the department. The faculty members in the department carrying out research in the following areas.
1.Mathematical Theory of Control, Applied Functional Analysis, Soft Computing.
2.Rheology, Atmospheric and magnetospheric chaos, Time series analysis.
3.Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical Elasticity, Homogenization, Finite Element Methods.
4.Differential Geometry and Applications.
5.Stochastic Modelling, Queueing Theory, Reliability, Inventory Control, Mathematical Finance.
6.Spectral Element methods, Computational fluid Dynamics, Computational Seismology.
7.Fixed Point Theorems and its Applications
