Department of Avionics

The Department of Avionics Engineering was established in the year 2007 in Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram with the vision of producing scientists of highest calibre to meet the challenges of ISRO’s programmes.

The Department offers a four year B. Tech. Programme in Avionics Engineering which gives technical excellence in all areas of Avionics engineering such as Digital System Design, Digital communication, VLSI Design Navigation, Guidance and Control, Digital System Design, Computer Technology and Power Electronics. In addition to this the department offers M.Tech in RF and Microwave Communication with well laid plans to have PG program in other areas like Advanced Control System, Digital Signal processing, VLSI and MEMs and Computer Science in the near future. The department also provides Ph.D program in various disciplines of Avionics like Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

The department has excellent lab facilities and state-of -the-art software tools for VLSI design for front end and back end design, CAD software for design of analog circuits, Microwave Circuits and Components with the tie up for fabrication of devices at various foundaries which provide good opportunity to the students and researchers to learn, design and innovate. The department provides access to the various laboratories of ISRO through internships for students to have hands on experience with some of the challenging works for space programmes. The department has been actively involved in teaching and research for imparting state of the art education in Avionics Engineering.
