Department of Chemistry

Department of Chemistry is established to undertake teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate level where strong foundations are laid facilitating the design and development of novel materials and processes to meet future technological challenges. The department offers courses for the chemical system stream of the B.Tech Physical sciences and an M.Tech. programme on chemical systems.

Research in the Department of Chemistry is a symbiosis of different branches of science ultimately leading to novel material development, their testing and applications largely to cater to the demand of future space programs of ISRO. Apart from that each faculty also pursues research in one’s own area of interest and the students are offered Ph.D. degree under the guidance of faculty. The department proposes to have world class laboratories housing state-of-the-art facilities to achieve its ultimate goal of contributing to India’s future space missions including Human in Space program.
