The MR. Omayal Achi MR. Arunachalam Trust was established in 1976. The foremost priority of the Trust was to impart subsidized quality education and to provide the rural poor with free essential health requirements. The Trustees strongly felt that excellent educational and health facilities in the villages were vital for a developing country like ours.

MACCON was started by the MAC (Educational) Foundation in 1991 to be an adjunct nursing talent incubator to the 400-bed Voluntary Health Services Hospital. The college offers three popular courses - B.Sc. (Nursing) - 4 years, Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) - 2 years and M.Sc. (Nursing) -2 years. MACCON is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and is recognized by both the Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council and the Indian Nursing Council.

The KMCH College of Nursing founded in the year 1993 as the first educational institution of Kovai Medical Center Research & Educational Trust. Now, the KMCH College of Nursing is a full pledged Post graduate institution par excellence. The college is attached to the Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, which is a 1000 bed multi disciplinary super speciality hospital. The Hospital is a well known Health Center in the Southern part of India.

Govt.College of Nursing, Kottayam is one of the pioneer institutions of Nursing Education in Kerala, offering basic & higher education programmes. The main objective of the college is to render quality nursing education.

Nursing College Thiruvananthapuram, the pioneer institute in Nursing had its orgin as School of Nursing attached to General Hospital Thiruvananthapuram in the year 1943. The School of Nursing was shifted to Medical College campus 1954. Diploma programme in Teaching and Administration of 11 months duration started at University level with an annual intake of 10 students in 1960.

Government College of Nursing, Kozhikode is the second Govt.Nursing College of Kerala. It is affiliated to the University of Calicut and Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). College was started in April 1982 at College of Nursing Trivandrum Campus with 25 seats.
