About Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Aurangabad


Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) was formerly known as Marathwada University. It is located in Aurangabad district of Maharashtrastate. The university was established on August 23, 1958. Since its inception, the university has around 404 colleges affiliated to it, which come under four districts - Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, and Osmanabad. The student population exceeds 4,44,336. The university campus covers more than 725 acres (2.93 km2). There are separate halls of residence for both boys and girls those who are enrolled at the university.

On August 5, 2004, a subcenter of BAMU was established at Osmanabad. It has been temporarily started at Government Ayurvedic College in Osmanabad.
