The Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad GECA),is the premier technical finstitute in Marathwada region of Maharashtra State. Established in 1960, by the Government of Maharashtra,with the view of catering to Maharashtra technical expertise requirement, this institution has earned well repute in a relatively short period of time. GECA has the distinction of being graded 'A' amongst the colleges located in the state of Maharashtra by the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai which oversees admissions to the college.

The institute is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and is approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). All degrees are awarded by the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
The institute is situated in the heart of the city in the Osmanpura area sprawling over a campus of 30 acres with magnificent ashlars masonry buildings housing various Departments, Laboratories, Workshop and Hostels. The main building houses the Mechanical, Electrical Engineering , Applied Science and Engineering Mathematics departments while the New building houses the departments of Computer Science & Engineering and the Electronics and Telecommunications. A separate Annex building houses the department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics. Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad (GECA) is a premier technical institute of Marathwada region in Maharashtra State of India that contributes to a complete technical and cultural education of the region. The official website of GECA is http://www.geca.ac.in. It was previously affiliated to the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and was established in the year 1960. The construction of the college was started in 1957 and was completed in the year 1960. Later on many new additions were made which include the new extension building that presently housed the Electronics and Telecommunication Department, Computer Science Engineering Department and the Information Technology Department. A new classroom block which will house the First Year classes and IT Department is completely constructed.
