Established in the year 1958, this division has been very active in research work to produce quality geotechnical engineering manpower needed to tackle a variety of geotechnical challenges faced during the implementation of a number of plan programmes.

=> B.E Civil Engineering
=> M.E Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering
=> Ph.D. Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering

Facilities :

ADVANCED SOIL MECHANICS LABORATORY :
The division of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering is equipped well with state of the art equipment's. The division possesses field testing equipment such as Static Cone Penetration test, Field Vane Shear Test, Pressure Meter Test etc. In addition to the above, the Division is having special kind of equipment's like Cyclic Triaxial Servo Controlled system with Bender Element. Also, the Division is having Pressure Plate Extractor and Block Vibrator testing system. The above mentioned equipments are being used continuously for classroom teaching, Laboratory classes, testing and consulting works. Students are trained with all these testing equipment's.

COMPUTER LABORATORY :
Division is in possession of computing laboratory having sufficient computers with internet facility. Scanner and copiers are also available for students use. A computer laboratory has been developed in the division to provide solutions for various Geotechnical Engineering problems through numerical analysis. This laboratory has computing facilities using various softwares such as PLAXIS, GEOSLOPE, STRAP and STADD Pro. All these above mentioned facilities are frequently used by students for their research work and consultancy works

LIBRARY :
The Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering students have access to division library, which have a large numbers of collection for reference books in various fields of geotechnical engineering, International and National conference proceeding volumes, research reports and Indian standard specifications.
