The King George's Medical College, Lucknow, established in 1911, has been a frontrunner among medical education institutions in the country. By an act passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on the 16th September 2002, the college was upgraded as a medical university. The new university, called the King George Medical University, is committed to the dissemination and advancement of knowledge in biomedical sciences and establishing itself as a centre of excellence in tertiary level health care in the state.This medical college has come as one of the best medical college an that region and count among the top medical college of India. The college is approved by the government of India and offers various courses to the aspiring candidates. The institute is having well organized reputation and still working hard to get the top position. The college is offering all sorts of study materials to the candidates by providing qualified and experience faculty members. The college also gives loans and scholarship facility to the lower cast and needy candidates.

The institute is located in central part of Lucknow and situated 5km away from charbagh railway station. On 16th September 2002 an Act was passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh resulting in a major milestone in change in the history of the institution in converting and upgrading it as Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University. On the demand of the general public and more than 40,000 Georgians the world over, teachers and students of the University, the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the last week of October 2003 decided to revert the name of the medical university from C.S.M. Medical University to K.G. Medical University.
