The College was established in the year 1984 on a sprawling 158 Acres of land, between the Western Ghats and Kanyakumari. The College was approved by Government of Tamilnadu vide G.O.No.1777 dated 12/11/84 and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education. New Delhi vide their order No.f/45-41/91-AICTE/664 dated 12/4/1993 with the following branches of study.

An exclusive Research and Development Centre has been setup in the college campus to promote innovative skill of the student apart from gaining knowledge through their regular academic curriculum activities. The R & D centre is one among the centres of excellences available in the college. This result oriented centre is guided by highly qualified and well experienced Senior Professors selected from each discipline.
