Located in Velammal College of Engineering and Technology was established in 2007 to impart quality technical education to the socially and the economically challenged sections of South Tamil Nadu. It is a non-minority institution runs under self supporting stream. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. This college was established by the visionary Shri. M. V. Muthuramalingam, a Professional Engineer and Chairman of the Velammal Educational Trust, Chennai., Velammal College of Engineering and Technology is headed by Dr. N. Suresh Kumar, an astute leader with more than two decades of academic & administrative experience. The institution houses a team of well learned and experienced leaders as Heads of various departments. The College has excellent human resources for teaching and learning activities. There are around 40 Ph.D holders among the teaching fraternity and they are followed by an equal number of members pursuing their Ph.D. The institution invites leading academicians such as eminent professors, lead scientists and seasoned administrators to deliver guest lectures so as to update the knowledge of students /staff in their respective domains., The college has a well established infrastructure with 162 experienced faculty members. Among them 40 are with Ph.D and 51 are pursuing Ph.D. Research and Development is given more importance in the college. The total research grant received from funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DRDO, MNRE, MSME and ISRO is Rs. 487.45 Lakhs., The college has excelled in academics consistently. It has produced 45 University Ranks in UG (2012-16) and 13 University Ranks in PG (2014-16 batch). Placement is also given due importance in the college. 37.60 % of the eligible students got placed in leading companies namely ZOHO, Juspay, CODA Global,Sirius Technologies, Maveric Systems, Amazon, WIPRO, embedUR Systems, Amphisoft, Elitists, Smacar,Urjanet, VVDN, Infoview, Solartis, Saint Gobain, Visual BI, MBIT Wireless, Sundaram Clayton, Infosys, Sify Technologies, Pfizer (ICU), GSS, Verizon, Paypal, Byjus, Neeyamo, PositiveNaick, ZoomRx, Virtusa, Karomi Technologies, DirectI, Alight solutions, eLitmus, Torry Harris, Abyeti, CTS, Anarock, HPE, ClusterX, Sanmar, Wheels India in the current academic year till 27th Dec.2017., Students who have achieved both in academics and sports are to be honoured during the college day. Rs. 6,37,220/- lakhs worth prizes are won by students in 2016-17 and they are awarded with an equal prize money during the College day. The students who stand first in academics are given cash prizes. Faculty who produced centum results are appreciated with 2000/- Rs cash award for each paper & 1000/- for more than 95%.
