KLN College of Engineering (KLNCE) is the first self-financing Co-educational Engineering College, Established in 1994 in Sivagangai District. College is declared as Linguistic Minority Status belonging to Backward Community (Sourashtra).
Sponsored by K.L.N. Sourashtra College of Engineering Council, Madurai. The college is situated on the outskirts of Madurai, 11 km on Madurai-Nedungulam road. It is built in an area of 100 acres. The campus has multistoried buildings consisting of well provided class rooms, drawing halls, seminar halls, library, air-conditioned computer centres, staff rooms and student rest rooms. The infrastructure also consists of five double storeyed laboratory buildings and three single storeyed workshops and machine shop. Well furnished Men's hostel, mess block and canteen block are also inside the campus. Women's Hostel is situated near the college campus in a picturesqeue garden which is just of walkable distance away. The college is a quiet retreat, ideal for concentrated study, away from distractions and disturbances of a large city. Computing Centre Computing centre is constructed in a area of 480 square meter and fully air conditioned. This centre is being used by all students both B.E., M.B.A., M.C.A. This centre is open between 8.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. on all working days. The computer centre is having four file servers and 100 nodes connected to it. The file server is equipped with Novell Netware 3.11 and we have all the common softwares and also many of the latest softwares and packages. All B.E. students utilise the above software for their laboratory experiments i.e. this centre is provided in the Internet facility for the benefit of the students and hands on training is being given. In addition to all these, the laboratory is utilised for the Final year project work, paper presentation and semester practical exams. This centre has additionally multimedia kit, high resolution, dot matrix printer, scanner, color inkjet printer etc.
Student's Association The Mechanical Engineering students have formed an association "MECASO". Guest lectures, quizing, seminars and industrial visits come under its agenda. The Electrical Engineering students have an association called "ELITE". They regularly conduct seminars, guest lectures, symposium, etc. The Electronics & Communication Engineering students have formed an association called "SPARKLES". The galary of sparkles constitutes guest lectures, career guidance programmes, various hardware demos, quiz competitions, seminars and industrial visits. The students of Computer Science & Engineering have started an association called "ACE" through which they are conducting quiz programmes and have recently started to publish a journal for computer students. N.S.S. The National Service Scheme started functioning in the college from the academic year 97-98. Activities like planting of hybrid trees, campus cleaning, blood donation camp and general medical camp are being carried out. The villagers of the area are really benefited a lot. Rotract Club It is sponsored by the rotary club of madurai. This club aims at the self development of students through educational seminars, quiz programmes, constructive activities for the benefit of the society.
Sports and Keeping Fit The Department of Physical education functions hand in hand with the academic side by its quality and creativity through pragmatic activities. It aims to bring the harmonious development of the students. The college has totally 100 acres of land in which both outdoor games and indoor games are conducted for the benefit of the students. A 200 mts. track has been formed for conducting the Sports events. Gymnastic equipments like benchpress, armcurling, bar bell apparatus, etc. are available to the students. These help to provide physical fitness to the students. Besides, as the part of man building activities, the Department is conducting scientific yoga and meditation practice classes to the students to attain physical and mental fitness. Internet We have obtained Internet connection in the month of May'98. We have recognised under INSTITUTION category. Our account has been initiated under MD3 server. Our email address is [email protected]. Service provider for us is Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited, Chennai. We have a modem with a capacity 56kbps. Usage of Internet Internet in our college has been utilized in so many ways. Through training has been given to students in web page design using HTML programming. Students are allowed to send emaill messages to other colleges in order to participate in symposium and all.
