Department Of Anthropology And Tribal Studies

The Department of Anthropology and tribal studies established, as well as started functioning within Sidho Kanho Birsha University from the academic year 2012-13. Formally it comes in functioning with the joining of Assistant Professor Jagdeep Oraon, Department In-Charge of the Department and Assistant Professor Sudip Bhui.

Department imparts training in both theoretical and applied research in Anthropology and tribal studies, which equips students to meet the academic challenges in urban/rural/tribal field studies. Apart from studying ethnographic diversity, the department is oriented towards application of anthropological knowledge to the better understanding of tribal socio-cultural problems and development issues. The department will develop a Biological and Prehistoric Archaeology laboratory and small museum as a teaching aid for students.
