Our programmes - PhD in Mass Communication, Master of Arts (Journalism and Mass Communications), PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations, PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism, PG Diploma in Punjabi Journalism, are intensive, rigorous and demanding. Courses Offered :

=> Doctor of Philosophy (Journalism and Mass Communication) - 3 Years
=> Master of Arts (Journalism & Mass Communication) - 2 years (Semester system)
=> Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising & Public Relations - 1 years (Semester system)
=> Post Graduate Diploma in Hindi Journalism - 1 years (Semester system)
=> Post Graduate Diploma in Punjabi Journalism - 1 years (Semester system)

Eligibility For Doctor of Philosophy (Journalism and Mass Communication) :

=> Entrance Test (any exemption from this mandatory condition is as per the UGC guidelines 2009.Details available in the Handbook of Information for PhD programs). The test will be of two Papers. Initial evaluation will be of Paper- I (Objective type). Only if the candidate obtains 55% (50% for SC/ST) marks or more, Paper II will be evaluated. The test is usually conducted in the month of July/August. Forms are usually available in MayA candidate who has obtained a Masters' degree (at least 55% marks for General Category and 50% marks for SC/ST category) in aggregate from the Panjab University or any other University recognized by the Panjab University or have appeared in the final year Masters' examination in the subject concerned shall be eligible to appear in the PhD entrance test.

Eligibility For Master of Arts (Journalism & Mass Communication) :

=> Merit and Entrance Test (inclusive of Group Discussion and Personal Interview). The Entrance test is conducted through OCET. Forms are available in the last week of March every year.The Entrance test is open to all such candidates who have passed : (i) Bachelors Degree in Journalism & Mass Communication obtaining at least 45% marks or (ii) Bachelors Degree in any subject with 50% marks in the aggregate or (iii) BA/BSc with Honors in Journalism & Mass Communication or (iv) Master Degree Examination in any subject or (v) Equivalent qualification of another University recognized by the Panjab University.

Eligibility For Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising & Public Relations :

=> Merit and Entrance Test (inclusive of Group Discussion and Personal Interview). The entrance test is conducted by the School of Communication Studies.A candidate who:a) Is a graduate in any discipline shall be eligible to join the PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations orb) Possesses a qualification of another University recognized as equivalent to (a) shall be eligible to join the PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations

Eligibility For Post Graduate Diploma in Hindi Journalism :

=> Merit and Entrance Test (inclusive of Group Discussion and Personal Interview). The entrance test is conducted by the School of Communication StudiesA candidate who:a) Is a graduate in any discipline shall be eligible to join the PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism.Orb) Possesses a qualification of another University recognized as equivalent to (a) shall be eligible to join the PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism.

Eligibility For Post Graduate Diploma in Punjabi Journalism :

=> Merit and Entrance Test (inclusive of Group Discussion and Personal Interview). The entrance test is conducted by the School of Communication Studies.A candidate who:(a) Is a graduate in any discipline shall be eligible to join the PG Diploma in Punjabi JournalismOr(b) Possesses a qualification of another University recognized as equivalent to (a) shall be eligible to join the PG Diploma in Punjabi Journalism.

Library :
Over 1500 Books are available in the School library and over 2000 in the University Central Library. The School also subscribes to over 15 newspapers and magazines besides research journals. An extensive collection of books and journals related to the discipline of Journalism & Mass Communication are available in the Main Library.
