Department of Physics
The P.G. Department of Physics was established in the year 2004. Teaching in three courses namely M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D. is imparted for respective degrees. The team of faculty members includes Dr. B. Sahu (Professor), Dr. S. Kar (Reader), Dr.B. Rath (Reader), Dr. I. Naik (Lecturer), Mr. P. Mallick (Lecturer). Syllabus of different courses has been made up to date incorporating subjects provided by the UGC.
The Department is functioning in a new building with adequate facility. Experimental works with many types of equipment for various courses are in progress and order.
Two students have got Ph.D. degree from this Department. There was a JRF in one of the projects under Prof. B. Sahu as the PI. He has submitted the thesis for Ph.D. All faculty members are publishing papers with good impact factors. The areas of research include Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, Solid State Physics, Quantum Mechanics., etc. Even the students of M.Sc. have published papers in student’s journals like “Prayas” from the topics of their project works in M.Sc.
