Department of Prosthodontics Crown & Bridge

Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge is also known as prosthetic dentistry or dental prosthetics, is one of the nine dental specialties pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible artificial substitutes. It includes the specialty of implant, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry.

Department of Periodontics & Implantology

The Department of Periodontology at the Mahatma Gandhi Dental College & Hospital, Jaipur offers a graduate and three-year postgraduate program leading to a Master of Dental Surgery degree awarded by the Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur. The advance training program in Periodontology is approved by the Dental Council of India.

Department of Pedodontics

The department provides comprehensive treatment of all the dental problems for children less than 14 years of age and also emphasizes health education by conducting dental and health education camps. The department is especially dedicated to children and has been designed to make children feel more comfortable in the operatory.

Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

The Department of Orthodontics was started way back in 2003 and is currently being headed by Dr. Mridula Trehan. The Department has grown monumentally and is continuously progressing in terms of student education and patient care and infrastructure. The department is housed with an array of treatment techniques that attend to orthodontic patients of all ages. The armamentarium of patient care includes removable orthodontic appliances, fixed orthodontic appliances (braces), clear esthetic appliances (Biostar), lingual orthodontic appliances and orthodontic micro implants.

Department of Oral Pathology

Oral Pathology is the branch of dentistry which deals in identification of diseases affecting the head and neck region. Oral pathology investigates the causes and effects of these diseases. The Department provides diagnostic details related to diseases of the oral and maxillofacial pathology. Branch includes subjects like Oral Anatomy & Oral Histology as first year of BDS curriculum; Oral pathology teaching takes place in the second & third years of BDS.

Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology

Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Radiology is that branch of dentistry that integrates the fields of medicine and dentistry to promote optimal health. Oral medicine is that area of special competence concerned with the health and with disease involving the oral and para oral structures. It includes those principles of medicine that relate to the mouth, as well as research in biological, pathological and clinical spheres. It was recognized as a specialty by the DCI in 1968 (Oral Medicine) and 1971(Oral Radiology.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery renders all varieties of surgical treatments ranging from acquired, congenital, traumatic and developmental diseases of the jaws and face to simple extraction of teeth. Prof. Sunil Sharma presently heads the department which has total of 2 professor, 3 senior lecturers, 3 demonstrators, 6 junior residents.

Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics

Conservative Dentistry is the branch of Dentistry which is concerned with the conservation of teeth in the mouth. It embraces the practice of operative Dentistry and Endodontics, and includes various kinds of direct and indirect restorations of individual teeth in the mouth. The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics at Mahatma Gandhi Dental college caters to graduate students(B.D.S) at the school and offers a postgraduate programme leading to a Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S).

Department of Radio Diagnosis

The department of Radio-Diagnosis at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology is a highly specialised department which aims to meet all patient and clinician needs in diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapies. We conduct all types of routine and special investigations like X-rays including mammogram. We also have routine and special ultra sound colour Doppler studies, soft tissue sonography and all routine CT Scan and CT Angiography including coronary and contrast study, MRI with or without contrast, MRS, MRCP, MRI Mammogram, MR Angiographic study etc.

Department of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care

The Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology's department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Management is comprised of several board-certified anaesthesiologists. We are all committed to providing superior patient care with sub-specialities in areas of anaesthesiology including cardiac, neurological, general surgery, plastic surgery, dental surgery, obstetrics and gynaecological, ENT, orthopaedic, ophthalmology and intensive care.

Department of Obstetritics & Gynaecology

The department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has an experienced and enthusiastic faculty with dedication towards patient care, students teaching and research work.Our department has fully developed OPD, IPD and emergency services with 100 IPD beds (60 Obst. & 40 Gynae). Well-developed labour room and ICU being run round the clock with modern equipment & specialized faculty. Our Labour room provides facilities of pain less labour (epidural analgesia).

Department of Opthalmology

Our Department is committed to advancing the understanding and treatment of ocular disorders. As we are a part of a renowned teaching hospital we use state of the art modalities to provide the best training to our students and the best possible care to our patients. We are equipped with the most modern technology such as Phacoemulsification, Perimeter, Ophthalmoscope and Retinoscope, Fundus Floorosein Angiography Camera, Green Laser, Cryo Unit, Keratometer, Indirect Ophthalmoscope, Synoptomphore, Operating microscope with TV Unit with camera, Slit lamp etc.

Department of Orthopaedics

Setup in 2001 our department is regarded as one the best in Rajasthan. It provides comprehensive care, consultation & surgery to some of the most complex Orthopaedic injuries throughout the region. The department caters to approximately 120 patients daily with indoor bed strength of 90 patients, making it one of the largest departments in MGUMST & in Rajasthan. Our mission is Advanced Orthopaedic Care through innovation, mentorship & education at very reasonable cost.

Department of General Surgery

This department has 5 fully functional general surgical units having indoor bed strength of 160 patients. Department is equipped with available surgical gadgets of the day like harmonic scalpel, SILS port etc. Classical open as well as laparoscopic surgeries are done with good outcome. Our hospital has fully functional ancillary surgical speciality units of Urology, CT surgery and neurosurgery.

Department of Paediatrics

Children are the future of the nation and caring of them is a very important task for MGUMST. The department consists of 3 wards with 90 beds, 6 OPD chambers, and 2 clinical demonstration rooms with a capacity to hold 30 students.

Department of Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry has a regular out patient service, 30 bedded indoor facility (15 male & 15 female)and renders regular services of Clinical Psychologists and Social Workers.All types of treatment modalities i.e. Psychological assessment, Psycho -pharmalogical, Electroconvulsive therapy, Psychotherapies, Counseling, Behaviour therapy and Biofeedback.The department also runs three special Clinics viz; Geriatric, De-Addiction, Child and adolescent guidance.

Department of Skin & Venerology & Leprosy

The dept. of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy is functioning since inception of this medical college, at present it is located in the annexure building of MGMCH on the first floor with sufficient space available. Indoor patients are accommodated on the 4th floor of MGMCH with 30 beds (15 male and 15 female beds).

Department of Tb & Chest Diseases (Pulmonology)

The department provides specialised care of patients of TB & Respiratory diseases, and has Indoor Facility with 30 beds (15 male & 15 female). The department also has Daily OPDs as well at a DOT Centre. The department also boasts of several advanced instruments and equipment like Fiberoptic Bronchoscope, Video Bronchoscope, pirometery, Hyp’Air Compact Pulmonary Function Test System having facility of Spirometery& Diffusion to name a few.

Department of Community Medicine

The Department of Community Medicine aims at preparing a Family Physician who has training and skill to assess health status of people, their health needs and demands and use this information to plan, prioritize and implement Primary Health Care, and evaluate it. The family physician is the health team leader, friend, teacher/educator having social accountability.

Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology

Forensic science is the most important instrument for the detection or investigation of crime and the administration of justice by providing vital and crucial information about the evidence found in a victim’s body. Forensic Medicine & Medical Jurisprudence & Toxicology is a science of applying medical facts to legal problems. Our department is the only Department of private medical teaching to have an Alcometer (Breath Analyzer) that provides the percentage of alcohol consumed at random which is a unique facilities giving report of alcohol consumption on the spot.

Department of Microbiology

The department also provides many services like direct microscopy for Bacteria (Diphtheria, Gonococci, Meningococci, Pneumococci etc), Microscopy free forTB, Fungus, Parasites in Blood & stool, culture & sensitivity for Bacteria, culture &identification of Mycobacteria, culture & identification of Fungi, immunoassay tests, Hepatitis markers (HBsAG, antiHCV), RA, CRP,ASLO, WIDAL, VDRL, TPHA, Dengue, Malaria antigen, Pregnancy test, Mantoux test, ELISA tests – TORCH, ANA, ACA, IgM Chlamydia, HIV testing & Counselling.

Department of Pathology

The pathology department is the backbone of the medical college and hospital. The Mahatma Gandhi University has a big spacious well ventilated and well equipped pathology department with modern state of art facility. It consists of modern teaching laboratories, air conditioned lecture theatres with audio visual facilities. The pathology museum boasts of a collection of specimen of rare diseases. Department has modern histopathology, cytopathology, haematology and service laboratories for catering the needs of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital attached to the medical college.

Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry has 2 Demonstration rooms with a seating capacity of 100 each, and well equipped with audio – visual aids. There is one practical lab for UG student with 96 lab seats and one research lab for the PGs & faculty with latest instruments including Electrophoresis Apparatus, Chromatography Chambers & Spectrophotometer etc. to carry out research in the field of Biochemistry.

Department of Physiology

The department is engaged in the teaching & training of undergraduate medical students pursing MBBS course. The faculty strives to impress upon student the importance of learning various physiological processes involved in the maintenance of homeostasis of the body so as understand the mechanism of disease. Beside this, the department is also running M. Sc. (Med.) course (a three year P.G. degree course) offered to the graduate students having degree in various disciplines of life sciences. Along with these courses, the department in also contributing to the teaching & training of BDS, B.

Department of Anatomy

Knowledge of the human anatomy plays a crucial role in the pursuit of a medical degree. The teaching at MGUMST aims at equipping students with the knowledge in anatomy to help them embark a professional journey filled with competence and confidence. The department has been moulded and nurtured under the guidance of several able doctors and professors.The department has all the facilities relating to infrastructure & equipment as required by MCI. The teaching facilities are supported by a large number of museum specimens, models and charts spread over all the sections viz.
