Located in Regional Engineering College, Hamirpur is one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges of the country, established in the year 1986 as a joint and co-operative, enterprise of the Govt. of India and Govt, of Himachal Pradesh. The college came into existence to offer Bachelor Degree Programmes in Civil & Electrical Engineering in 1986. After consolidating these courses an undergraduate programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 1988. The undergraduate programmes in Computer Sc. & Engg. and Mechanical Engg. were started subsequently in the years 1989 & 1994 respectively. the Architecture course has been started from the year 2000., The college is an autonomous institution of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and hence enjoys complete freedom of action in academic affairs. It is managed by an autonomous Board of Governors consisting of nominees of the central and state governments besides industry and other educational institutions/universities. The college is financed jointly by the central and state governments., In conformity with the policy of Govt. of India, 50% seats are reserved for students from Himachal Pradesh and remaining 50% are earmarked for students from other states. A few seats are also reserved for foreign students under "Self Financing" scheme of Govt. of India. Started in 1986, Regional Engineering College is located in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Fifty percent of the seats are reserved for the students of Himachal Pradesh and the remaining seats for students from other states.
