Jamia Nadwiyya Training College is a minority secondary teacher education institution established and maintained by the Muslim community with the concurrence of Govt. of Kerala. It was established in 1995 and affiliated to the University of Calicut. NCTE granted recognitions for the B.Ed course. Later in 2004, TTC course was also granted recognition.

The A.W.H. College of Education, Calicut is a Teacher Educators Institution which is the only one of its kind in Kerala, imparting B.Ed Degree course in Special Education and B.Ed General as well. The college previously housed in the A.W.H.Special college building Kallai was shifted to the newly constructed own building with adequate space and facilities as per the norms and standards of NCTE in the own land comprising of more than 5 Acres at Cheruvannur since 1-11-2008.

At the outset we would like to focus the rural setting of the college established in 2001. The peet memorial training college, mavelikara was founded in 1960 in memory of the Rev. Joseph peet , who was one of the leading missionaries, sent by the CMS to south India. He came to mavelikara in 1836 not only to spread the gospel, but also to uplift the downtrodden. He was mainly instrumental in popularizing education in the area.
