Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi is a public technical and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College, it became the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. It was designated an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012.

Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), started the Mithibai College of Arts & Mohanlal Dayal Chauhan Institute of Science in 1961 as a part of its own Silver Jubilee Celebration. Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics was an addition in the year 1980. A complex was thereby formed that embraced the three main streams of education – Arts, Science and Commerce.

Shri Dayanand (Bhausaheb) Bandodkar gave a generous donation of Rs. 3, 20,000 / - for the construction of the Science college building. In June 1975, the affiliation of College was changed to University of Mumbai from University of Pune, and in the same year, B. N. Bandodkar College of Science was separated from the Arts and Commerce College for administrative convenience.

Shivaji Mahavidyalaya is multifaculty college with 3252 square meter campus area.
