Govt. Johnson College, Aizawl was established in 1993 and got provisional affiliation to NEHU on 17th December, 1996 and was amalgamated with Bungkawn College on October 24, 2007. Govt. Johnson College, Aizawl was provincialised on October 11, 2007 by the Government of Mizoram. The Institution has been granted University affiliation upto degree level on December 17, 1996 and got permanent affiliation on July 1, 2006.

Zunheboto Govt.College was established as a private College on the 21st of July,1980. It was sponsored and managed by the Sumi Hoho. Lt.Kughato Sukhai , the first and the then President of Sumi Hoho played a pioneering role by not only coming up with the idea of setting up a College, but also in establishing it.But initially,there was no proper fund, no infrastructure and no manpower to run a College.

The establishment of Wangkhao College was the fulfillment of a long-felt want of the people of Mon district as a whole and the entire Konyak community in particular.
