Sree Krishna College, Guruvayur visualized by Sree Krishna Educational Society, was formally inaugurated on 18th July 1964 and was affiliated to Kerala University. In 1967 the college was shifted to the present location at Ariyannur. The college came under the direct control of Guruvayur Devaswom in 1976. Graduate courses were started in 1967 and Post graduate course in 1984.
Calicut Regional Engineering College was started in September 1961. It is the ninth of its kind and the first one to be established during the Third Five Year Plan period. The college is a joint and co-operative enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Kerala and is visualised as a national institution imparting quality technical education and fostering national integration. It is administered by a society registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.
