This college, which began with five undergraduate courses and a few hundred students in 1974, now boasts of 12 UG courses, 3 vocational courses, 6 PG courses and 3 M.Phil courses in the I Shift and 3 UG courses in the II Shift, with a total strength of more than 4300 women students. The majority students belong to first generation learners.

Sri Ram Nallamani Yadava College of Arts and Science, situated on the verdurous, fertile and magnificent foothills of the Western Ghat near Tenkasi, is run by the management of Sri Ram Nallamani Yadava Educational Society. The college stands as apillar of support to the rural youth who are badly in need of facilities for the prosecution of higher studies. SC was declared open on 14.07.1975 by the Founder Chairman Amarar Thiru. T.N.K. Govindaraju Chettiar, an eminent Philanthropist-Industrialist from Madras and by the Vice Chairman, Secretary and Managing Trustee, Thiru. J.K.K.Angappa Chettiar, another eminent Philanthropist-Industrialist from Komarapalayam.

K.S.Rangasamy College of Arts and Science, Tiruchengode, was started in the year 1995 by the K.S.R Educational and Charitable Trust. Lion.Dr.K.S.Rangasamy MJF, is the President of the Trust and the founding father of KSRCAS. Affiliation was granted to the college in 1995 by the University of Madras. Now the college is affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem.

The benefit of education, let alone higher education, was a distant dream for the poor people of Virudhunagar region until the nineteen forties.
