Founded in 1972, Dhanabagiyam Krishnaswamy Mudaliar College for Women, Vellore (D.K.M.College for Women, Vellore) under Vellore Vallal N.Krishnaswamy Mudaliar Charitable trust, Vellore, is working from the beginning for, Academic excellence., Development of all round personality of the students through co and extra curricular activities., Moulding the students as good citizens of India with social commitments., Preparing them to face with confidence the challenges of the world., In 1997, the institution had the silver jubilee celebrations. In 2002, the institution was accredited by NAAC and is awarded B grade. The College got Autonomy from 01.06.2007. The strength of the institution is the faculty, chosen from the cream of academicians from all over India and the students are from different states of the country., DK.M College was founded in June 1972 by vallal Sri N.Krishnaswami Mudaliar.The Great Philanthropist took it as his life’s Mission to serve the cause of women’s education and thus this college took its shape., Born at Doddipalli Village near Chittoor,Andhrapradesh in a poor family.Shri.N.Krishnasamy Mudaliar had his life from scratch as a bus driver. He waded through insurmountable adversities but succeeded in securing a lofty position in life.simplicity,honesty,integrity,perseverance and devotion to duty were the virtues which raised him to the rank of a fleet owner. With his life’s labour and earnings,he created a permanent Charity Trust and set up N.K.M. Higher Secondary School First and D.K.M Women’s college later., Smt.Dhanabagiyam Ammal, his wife stood by him all through his charitable activities and proved patience and the womanhood of this part of the world stays ever greateful to her.
