SLAT 2027 Syllabus: Sections and Topic Guide
The official SLAT 2027 structure has five mandatory sections with 12 questions each: Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and General Knowledge. SIU publishes the section structure; candidates should use the current official notice for any revised syllabus or instructions.
Section and unit breakdown
- Logical Reasoning: arguments and conclusions, assumptions, inferences, cause and effect, syllogisms, analogies, sequences and critical reasoning.
- Legal Reasoning: principle-and-fact application, legal aptitude, basic constitutional and legal awareness, rights and duties, and reasoning with stated rules. Focus on applying the rule given rather than relying on unsupported assumptions.
- Analytical Reasoning: arrangements, ordering, grouping, relationships, data-based logic, patterns and structured problem solving.
- Reading Comprehension: passage comprehension, central idea, inference, vocabulary in context, tone and author purpose.
- General Knowledge: current affairs and static general knowledge, including national and international events, institutions, polity, history, geography, science, awards and important legal developments.
Preparation approach
Use timed practice for each section, read a reliable daily news source, maintain concise current-affairs notes and review every mock-test error. The official format allocates 12 questions to each section; the list above is a study guide, not an official chapter-by-chapter guarantee.
