How to fill JoSAA Application Form?
Steps to Fill the Application Form:
- Registration:
- Go to the official JoSAA website.
- Click on the link for “JoSAA Candidate Registration and Choice Filling”.
- Log in using your JEE Main application number and password (for JEE Advanced qualified candidates, use their JEE Main application number and JEE Advanced password).
- Your basic details will be auto-fetched from the JEE Main/Advanced database. Verify these details.
- You will be prompted to create a new password for the JoSAA portal.
- Provide your nationality, state code of eligibility, gender, and other required information.
- Review all the details and confirm. Note that most personal information cannot be changed after this step, except for contact details.
- You will receive a confirmation email and SMS on your registered contact information.
- Choice Filling:
- After successful registration, log in again to the JoSAA portal.
- You will see the list of available institutes and courses based on your eligibility.
- Carefully explore the options, considering your rank, category, and preferences.
- Fill in your choices of institutes and courses in order of your preference. It is highly recommended to fill in as many choices as possible to increase your chances of getting a seat.
- You can use the “up,” “down,” and “remove” buttons to arrange and manage your choices.
- There is no fee for choice filling.
- Locking the Choices:
- Once you are satisfied with your filled choices, you must lock them before the deadline.
- There will be an option on the portal to lock your choices.
- If you do not lock your choices by the deadline, they will be automatically locked by the system.
- Once the choices are locked, you cannot change them in subsequent rounds of counselling. So, be very careful before locking.
- Review and Print:
- After locking your choices, it is advisable to take a printout of your filled and locked choices for your record.
⚖️ Eligibility Criteria
To participate in JoSAA 2026, you must fulfill the following:
- Qualifying Exam: You must have a valid rank in JEE Main 2026 (for NITs, IIITs, GFTIs) or JEE Advanced 2026 (for IITs).
- 75% Rule: For admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, you must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST/PwD) OR be in the top 20 percentile of your respective board.
- Compulsory Subjects: You must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.

- Class 10 Certificate: Proof of Date of Birth.
- Class 12 Marksheet: Academic eligibility.

- JEE Admit Card & Scorecard.
