Difference Between Response Sheet & Answer Key

  • Response Sheet: Shows only your attempted responses and recorded choices; it does not indicate whether your answers are correct.
  • Provisional Answer Key: Released a few days later alongside the official question paper to provide the official correct keys for evaluation.

How to Calculate Your GATE Marks Using the Response Sheet

Once the official provisional answer key is published, you can calculate your raw marks out of 100 by matching your downloaded response sheet choices with the master answer key.

Total Score = Correct MCQ Marks + Correct MSQ Marks + Correct NAT Marks – Negative MCQ Marks
Note: Scores for multi-session papers will later be normalized by IIT Madras for the final scorecard.
