Davangere University is one of the youngest affiliating type of universities in Karnataka.It has Davangere and Chitradurga districts as its jurisdiction and headquartered at Davangere. The city is located on National Highway-4 at a distance of about 265Kms from Bangalore,the state capital of Karnaataka. Davangere became a separate district from 15th August 1997,Till then ,it was part of Chitradurga District.Davangere University was a post-Graduate centre of the University of Mysore from 1979 to 1987, and later functioned as P..G Centre of Kuvempu University from 1987 to 2009. Davangere University was established on 18th August 2009 as carved out of Kuvempu University with a vision to meet the educational aspirations of the people of this region. The main campus "Shivagangotri" is located at about 12 Kms from Davangere and 60Kms from Chitadurga. Davangere University has revealed a distinctive academic profile, integrating excellence in higher education to full fill the needs of the contemporary modern society and social ethnos of the region. it has 2 constituent colleges.1 autonomous college and 110 affiliated colleges offering graduate and post-graduate course in various disciplines catering to the educational needs of nearly 400000 students.The University has 5 faculties namely Arts, Science and Technology ,Commerce And Management, Engineering And Education. It has 7 post Graduate Department of studies & research on the main Campus offering 8 post Graduate & one P.G diploma courses.
