Department of Genomic Science

Department of Genomic Science (DGS) was established in 2010 at Riverside Transit Campus, Padennakkad to promote education and research in the area of Genomic science. It aims to develop an interdisciplinary programme through a flexible curriculum, and provide state of the art facility for Genomic research.The Department of Genomic Science has faculty members from diversified research fields like Population genetics, Genomics and proteomics, Pharmacogenomics, Microbial Genomics, Molecular genetics &epigenetics, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics. State-of-the-art laboratory facilities include Genetic sequence analyser, PCR, Fast Gradient PCR, HPLC, Spectrophotometer, Gel documentation system, Refrigerated Centrifuges, Laminar air flow, incubitor s ,-20o C/-80o C deep freezers, and minor equipment’s like Electrophoresis, Chromatography, pH meters, Autoclaves, to carry out modern experiments related to Genomics and Proteomics. The courses are designed to expose the students to wide ranging aspects in the field of Genomics, Proteomics, and Biotechnology to make them highly skilled in both theory and practice
