The IIS University’s Theatrical Society presents an annual play ‘Paan Khayenge’, which will be showcased at Kshipra Path situated India International School auditorium on Wednesday. Fifty-seven students of the university have taken part in the play. The play is the outcome of 35 days of hard work, dedication and devotion of all the members of the Dramatics Workshop conducted by the Theatrical Society of the university.

Model, Bollywood Actor & Singer, Sudhanshu Pandey will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.

This play is based on ‘The Miser’, a five-act comedy play written by the French playwright Moliere. The plot majorly consists of a classic conflict between love and money. The protagonist is a sixty-year-old self obsessed man who is very paranoid about the money he has amassed over the years and is always on his toes to keep it secure; so much so that he almost strip searches everyone who visits and leaves his house. The comedy develops
through a series of intriguing tricks and tact’s, the characters in the play hatch, to make the old man change his decisions and turn the dice in their favour.

The conscience and ethicality of people dancing to the tune of money and power, abundance of good ‘wealth’ but lack of good ‘will’ are such socially relevant issues that despite the antiquity of these plays, there is ample relevance in there concept even today.

Therefore, through comedy the team has made the best of efforts to not only entertain you all but to also kindle some serious self reflection.

National School of Drama graduates and Mumbai-based five sense’s group’s director Mr. Hardik Shah and his team taught the nuances of theatre world to the students. A group of 60 students took part in the workshop and Dr. Aditi R. Khandelwal and Priyanka Sogani have contributed in giving the play a final shape.
