Teachers’ Skill Development Programme organized for Government School teachers.

After the success of Polio Eradication Programme, the Rotarians have taken up a new mission of Complete Literacy with Quality Education. TEACH Mission is the new initiative taken up by the Rotary International to eradicate illiteracy in Southern Asia.

TEACH Mission consists of ‘T’ for Teachers’ Support, ‘E’ for E-Learning, ‘A’ for Adult Literacy, ‘C’ for Child Development and ‘H’ for Happy Schools. Rotarians admit that only good teachers are able to provide quality education to the youth. To improve the quality of education, teachers required to be more updated and skilled.

Under the Rotary India Literacy Mission, Rotary Club Jaipur Midtown, Rotary Club Jaipur Marugandha and Rotary Club Jaipur Gurukul have jointly organized Teachers’ “Skill Development Programme” at The IIS University campus on Friday. Almost 50 teachers from various government schools of Jaipur district have attended the workshop.

While addressing the Rotarians and participants, PDG Dr. Ashok Gupta, National Committee Chair – Adult Education has said that Rotary International has always an important role to play in nation building. Saksharta Mission, National Literacy Mission are some of the programmes initiated by the Government of India and while taking this as their mission, rotary will help government to make this mission successful.

While PDG Ramesh Agarwal, National Committee Member – Teacher Support delivered the welcome address and motivated the participants with his words of wisdom.

The programme concluded in various sessions. The first session was based on “Stress Free Teaching for Teachers” in which Trainer Ms. Aditi Dadhich equipped the participants with various techniques with which they can improve the productivity without taking much stress.

The second session was taken by Ruchi Saxena on the topic “Being Education: Chalkboard Saga”. To make healthy environment at work place, Trainer Ms. Ruchi Saxena gave away the lecture on “Ethics and Etiquettes at Work Place”. The last session of the programme was based on the changes and latest developments in the field of teaching, which was taken by Ms. Vaishali Gupta.

Towards the end of the session, Sh. Suvala Sharma, Principal shared her experience of attending the workshop, while Sh. Rakesh Gupta, District Committee Chair – Teacher Support delivered vote of thanks.

    A Parliamentary Panel has asked the Ministry of Human resource and Development (MHRD) to llok into the faculty crunch in universities across states. The panel reports that in 24 central universities across 16 states, on an average 35 per cent of teaching posts are lying vacant. "Either our young students are not attracted towards the teaching profession or the recruitment process is a prolonged one and involves too many procedural formalities," the panel says. Banaras Hindu University has 848 posts vacant, and Allahabad University has 285 vacant posts.
