Department of Mass Communication & Videography
The Department of Mass Communication was established in 2006. It had a modest start considering the rural background of the university. However, the department has made significant progress since then. Since 2007-08 session the University had signed a Mou with Kalyani Foundation for Media Science & Community Research for conducting the course in a collaborative manner. The department has undertaken several projects and initiatives in Audio-Visual arena. The students of the department are contributing in almost all the leading Channels and Newspapers being published from the state. A Video documentary, ‘Assamer Pathe Megheder Deshe’ has been Screened in the Festival Section in 10th International Social Communication Film Conference held at Nandan in 2010. The department has also updated the syllabus many times to provide greater exposure to the students in the ever-expanding field of knowledge.
P G Diploma Course in Mass Communication and Videography is designed to provide students with an overview of mass media, including broadcasting, print media, the various forms of public relations, advertisements, reporting, news reading, anchoring, video production and Film Studies and the best kind of how-to skills of professional journalism and will also have hand-on experience of video camera operation/composition and video editing on which communication is based.
