The Galgotia College of Engineering & Technology is having several dedicated departments for U.G. & P.G. courses. MCA, the first course in department of Computer Applications, was introduced in the year 2003 with intake of 60 students. This department is enrich with highly qualified faculty, which are experts in their respective fields like Computer Networks, Software Engineering, Data mining & Warehouse etc. Apart from syllabus coverage department is committed to provide multiple activities to make the students versatile. To develop interactive learning process students are given ample opportunities to take part in seminars, workshops, conferences and debates etc.

Faculty
Department is headed by Dr. Brijesh Kr. Gupta, a Ph. D. holder from Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee, India in the year 2003, having 12 years of teaching and research experience. Apart from this experience he served in Ministry of Defense, Govt. of India as a Civilian Officer for more than 03 years. He has written a book on ‘ Mobile Computing’ and published 32 research papers in Int’l and National Journals and Conference Proceedings and attended total number of 21 Int’l , Continental, and National Conferences, Workshops and Symposium in India and abroad. He has guided several M. Phil. and M.Tech. students for their dissertation, and at present several students are under his supervision for their Ph.D. research work. He has organized several workshop and faculty development programs sponsored by D.S.T. & A.I.C.T.E. He is life member for Indian Society for Earthquake Technology, INDIA.
Department has highly motivated and experienced Faculty. At present the total strength of the faculty in the department is 12, including 01-Associate Professor, 02 Assistant Professor, 03 Senior Lecturer and 06 Lecturers. Department always motivates faculty for higher studies for their upliftment. Currently 03 faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D and 03 M.Tech. Degree programs.

Students
To enhance their technical skills and awareness students are also motivated and inspired to participate in seminars and technical festivals etc. Projects were given to the students by IBM –India under the TGMC (The Great Mind Challenges) program during the session 2009 -10. Our students participated in a seminar ‘Microsoft Dream Spark Yatra’ held at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology on 12th March, 2010.

Achievements
The department is putting its best efforts in fastest growing area of computer applications through research and development. Many research papers are published in the field of Computer Networks, Software Engineering, Wireless Communications, Data Warehousing, Data Mining, ERP Systems, Supply Chain Management System and Digital Signal Processing. We have partnered with IBM and Infosys. Many projects are running under IBM academics initiative program for the upliftment of students’ IT skills.

The progress of any country is judged by the index as to how much electrical energy it is generating and utilizing. The demand of electrical energy in our country is increasing at a very fast rate and this necessitates the need to generate more power .Thus the role of electrical engineer becomes all the more important in today’s scenario. Per capita Electrical Energy Consumption is an index of the standard of living of a country and its industrial and economic potential. Needless to say, that our country is very badly lagging behind in this area. The realization has now dawned that if India were to achieve a sustained annual economic growth of around 10%, it would have to improve its infrastructure including power generation by a factor of at least two. The government has all the intention of doing it and power generation is now under sharp focus. Simultaneously, the field of electronics is advancing in a big way and finds its application in almost every field, be it communications, power generation and management, automation, defence, consumer electronics, automobile engineering, control engineering or aerospace applications.

There is a huge deficit in the demand and supply of well-qualified Electrical and Electronics Engineers in the country. With this view the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department was started in July 2007. B.Tech (Information Technology) is a four year (eight semesters) under graduate programme, started in the year 2000 in affiliation with Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). Admission to the B.TECH (IT) programme is through a Common Entrance Test (CET), conducted by the UPTU. The course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of computer science with emphasis on applications together with a judicious blend of technical skills. Each semester is of sixteen weeks duration, besides the examinations. The students have to take 46 courses along with the personal and inter-personal effectiveness, labs and industry training during all the eight semesters. The current intake for the programme is 120.Department is also running M. Tech. (IT) programme from UPTU with an intake of 18 students. It is a two years programme with last semester as research project. Students also publish research papers in reputed Conferences and journals.
