SwarGram specializes through its research into efficacy of teaching techniques in Music Education in design and delivery of tailor-made courses in Indian Music to be studied by distance learning mode.

COURSE STRUCTURE

MODULE I

MUSIC THEORY |

| This module deals with the Origination, the History of Indian Music and covers all the basic definitions of terms pertaining to Indian Music.

MODULE II

PRACTICAL THEORY |

| SECTION 1 SWAR SAADHANA This section is made up of five core lessons which cover basic exercises to train the students in the prime notes in Indian Music.

SECTION 2 ALANKARS This section contains special exercises, which the students are required to practice in order to obtain mastery over all the notes.

MODULE III

RAAGS |

| SECTION 1 INTRODUCTION TO TAAL OR RHYTHM This section will introduce you to the basic concepts of rhythm and ideas in singing, related to it.

SECTION 2 INTRODUCTION TO RAAGS Raags are mystical compositions invented over thousand years by the scholars and musicians of ancient India. This section will give you an overview of various Raags and the terms related to their practice.

The remaining sections deal in detail, with Six Raags selected for your course and the special notes that are used in these Raags other than the prime notes.

MODULE IV

LIGHT MUSIC ELECTIVES | | Two Electives have to be chosen from -

1. GEET 2. GHAZAL 3. BHAJAN 4. SHABAD

Modules Two, Three and Four are supported by audio files, which have recorded lessons in digital audio format with download facility.

DURATION

According to our research this course can be completed in a period of six – months if the student devotes an hour of study each day. But due to the flexible nature, the student is allowed to decide on his / her learning schedule. When the student feels confident he/she can file the Examination Request Form and accordingly appear for it.
