TANCET is also known as Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test, is a common assessment conducted for admission to postgraduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) courses and also to postgraduate programmes of M.E, M.Tech, M.Arch & M.Plan in colleges of Tamilnadu. TANCET is conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu. This test is important for candidates who want admission to postgraduate degree programmes in colleges of Tamil Nadu state.

The question paper will have sections to:
- (i) Evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.
- (ii) Evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.
- (iii) Evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level.
- (iv) Test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of mathematics and use of day-to-day facts.
- (v) Test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.

TANCET Exam Pattern
Marking Scheme: You will get 1 mark for every correct answer and you will lose 1/3 mark for every wrong answer.

TANCET is conducted by Anna University. The TANCET PG Exam, also known as the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test for Postgraduate Studies, is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government. TANCET Syllabus for MBA and MCA is different except for the Quantitative Aptitude section. The other sections of the TANCET Syllabus for MBA include Business Analysis, RC, VA, and Data Sufficiency.
The syllabus for the TANCET Exam Business Analysis section includes a passage based on different business situations. You will accordingly have to answer the questions.
No, there will be no penalty for unanswered questions in the TANCET exam. However, for incorrect answers, 1/3 of the allotted marks will be deducted.
