TANCET 2026 – Exam Dates, Application Form, Syllabus

The TANCET 2026 examination will be held on 09 May 2026. Its admit card has released. The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is a State level Common entrance exam organized by Anna University, also known as Anna University, Chennai. The TANCET PG Exam, also known as the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test for Postgraduate Studies, is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government. The exam is conducted annually and provides a gateway to admission in University Departments, Constituent colleges of Anna University, Annamalai University, Government and Government Aided Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges) and Self-Financing Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including stand-alone Institutions) in Tamil Nadu in MBA, MCA.

Important Dates

Timings (May 9):

• MCA: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
• MBA: 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Eligibility Criteria

M.B.A. (Master of Business Administration)

– A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.
(a) 10+2+3 years pattern (or)
(b) 10+3 years Diploma +3 years pattern (or)
(c) B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm. (or)
(d) (i) 10+2+AMIE* (or)
(ii) 10+3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.*

M.C.A. (Master of Computer Applications)

– The candidate pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of a minimum 3 years duration with mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level and
obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.
(a) 10+2+3/4 years Pattern (or)
(b) 10+3 years diploma + 3 years Pattern (c) (i) 10+2+AMIE* (or)
(ii) 10+3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE*

M.C.A. Lateral Entry

– The candidate pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of a minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science / Information Technology) with mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination. 10+2+3 years Pattern

Note:

1. Candidates admitted through Lateral Entry in degree courses are not eligible except for MCA degree courses.
2. Candidates with a degree obtained without studying 10th, 12th Std. or 3 years degree program are not eligible.

Application Form & Process

You must apply online via the official portal: tancet.annauniv.edu.

Steps to Register:

1. Registration: Sign up with your name, email, and mobile number.
2. Login: Use the credentials sent to your email to access the form.
3. Details: Fill in personal and academic information and choose your preferred exam center.
4. Uploads: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and your signature (and community certificate if applicable).
5. Payment: Pay the application fee online.

Application Fees:

• General Category: ₹1,000
• SC/SCA/ST (Tamil Nadu candidates): ₹500

The entrance test will be held at the following cities:

Every effort will be taken to comply with the candidate’s choice for the entrance test centre. However, any other centre may be allotted to few candidates due to reasons like non-availability of space. In any case, a centre once allotted cannot be changed for any reasons.

Paper Pattern

Note: 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. Multiple shading will be considered as the wrong answer. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered.

*All the correct answers up to 20 will be awarded marks and all the wrong answers shall be taken into consideration for awarding negative marks. Multiple shading will be considered as a wrong answer and a 1/3 mark will be reduced

Cutoff

After the exam completion, the officials released the answer key for all the sets. Candidates who got the difference in the score, therefore, can check their performance through the Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test Result.
