Located in R.M.D. Engineering College started in the year 2001 – 2002 at Kavaraipettai, Gummudipoondi Taluk, and Thiruvallur District under the auspices of Sri Swaminatha Naidu Educational Trust which is a registered Telugu Educational Trust. The trust renders philanthropic and educational service to Telugu linguistic people living in rural areas bordering Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The main objective of the Trust is to foster quality technical and higher education, research and training in rural areas in various branches of science and technology and simultaneously inculcate among the youth a sense of discipline so that they can be moulded into competent and talented engineers., Thiru. R. S. Munirathinam, the Founder-Chairman of R.M.D Engineering College is well known for his Philanthropic attitude and service. He was an elected member of the State assembly of Tamil Nadu. He envisioned a technological revolution and committed himself to establish educational Institutions to foster technical and higher education. He is a rare breed of educationalist, for whom, Quality is the way of life. He is a Compassionate and modest person to associate with and is undeterred in his conviction to execute the perfection anything that is for common good. It is easily reached from Chennai by bus proceeding to Gummudipoondi / Sulurpeta / Nellore / Nayudupeta / Sri Kalahasthi / Thirupathi. The College is also accessible by suburban trains running between Chennai and Gummudipoondi.
